Parent Coaching
You're not the only working part of this system
If you're the one remembering every appointment, managing every mood, and holding the routine together by yourself, coaching starts by looking at the whole pattern, not just the moment you're stuck in.
What coaching looks at
The pattern behind the moment
Parent coaching isn't about finding the right thing to say in the moment your child melts down. It's about looking at what's actually sustaining the conflict: the rhythm of your day, what's being asked of your child, how much room there is for anyone to regulate, and what happens right after the hard moment.
That's the same systems-based lens behind everything SHIFT Parenting does: rhythm and routines, expectations, regulation, environment, missing skills, parent responses, family stress, and reinforcement patterns. Coaching works through which of these are actually in play for your family, instead of assuming it's always the same one.
Common areas of support
If any of this sounds familiar
- Repeated yelling and reminders
- Morning and bedtime conflict
- Homework battles
- Screen conflict
- Emotional escalation
- Inconsistent routines
- Sibling conflict
- School behavior concerns
- Parent overwhelm
- Difficulty following through
- A child who's capable some days and not others
- Being the only one managing everything
What coaching may look like
A process, not a script
A real conversation
Start with what's actually happening in your family: a conversation, not a questionnaire.
A plan built around your family
Work through which patterns are in play and what to change first, based on your actual routines and constraints.
Ongoing adjustment
Revisit and adjust the plan as your family changes, instead of treating it as a one-time fix.
Is this a fit?
Who coaching may fit, and who may need something else
Coaching may fit if…
- You're managing repeated conflict that isn't a crisis, but isn't getting better on its own
- You want to understand the pattern, not just get through today
- You're ready to look at routines and responses, not just your child's behavior
- You want an approach that adjusts as your family does
You may need a different or additional professional if…
- Your family is in crisis or there are safety concerns
- Your child may need a clinical diagnosis or licensed mental-health treatment
- You need medical, legal, or emergency support
- A school or legal process requires a licensed evaluation
What coaching does not replace
Parent coaching is educational and supportive. It does not replace medical, psychological, legal, emergency, diagnostic, or therapeutic care.
If your family is in crisis, if there are safety concerns, or if your child may need a clinical diagnosis or licensed treatment, please reach out to a licensed professional or emergency services. Coaching can work alongside that support, but isn't a substitute for it.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Is parent coaching therapy?
No. Gabriel works as a parent coach and educational consultant, not a licensed therapist. Coaching can work alongside clinical care, but it isn't a replacement for it.
How is coaching different from parenting advice I can find online?
General advice treats one moment at a time. Coaching looks at your specific family's pattern (routines, responses, and environment) and builds a plan around what's actually happening, not a generic script.
Do you work with one parent, or both?
Coaching can work with one parent or both, and can also account for a split household. Consistency across households helps, but isn't required to start.
Is coaching only for serious behavior problems?
No. Many families start coaching for everyday friction (mornings, homework, screens) before it becomes a bigger pattern.
What does it cost, and how long does it take?
Pricing and program details are confirmed directly. Reach out and Gabriel can walk you through current options for your family.
Ready to talk about your family's pattern?
Reach out and share what's happening. Gabriel will follow up to talk through whether coaching is the right next step.
